Before we know it, Labor Day will be upon us. We’re just six weeks away from the changing of the guards from summer to fall, which means you should book your last summer escape now. If you’d like to shake up the standard Labor Day weekend at the beach, consider a trip to the mountains this year. Instead of overcrowded shorelines and traffic, you’ll experience a never-ending list of outdoor activities, premier events, crisp mountain air and gorgeous sunsets. September 2–4, 2016
The JAS Labor Day Experience includes three days of world-class music with crowds of up to 11,000 per day. In addition to headline performances on the main stage, two side stages keep the music going throughout the day with a mix of up and coming artists. Held in Snowmass Village, attendees enjoy access to shopping, eclectic food and beverage vendors, kids’ corner and more. On Friday, performances include Train, Andy Grammer and Pandas and People. On Saturday, don’t miss The Killers, Theivery Corporation, Black Pistol Fire and JD and the Straight Shot. Sunday, Stevie Wonder, Duran Duran, Corinne Bailey Rae and Analog Son. Parking is available at the Intercept Lot located at the base of Hwy 82 and Brush Creek Road.

This highly anticipated Vail epicurean festival features open-air tasting of world-class wine, beer and spirits paired with culinary delicacies from Vail’s most lauded restaurants. Held in Vail Village, Gourmet on Gore offers free admission and a variety of additional culinary events include a Tasting Tour benefitting Vail Veterans Program on Friday, Sept. 2.

On September 4, a dazzling pyrotechnic exhibition lights up the clear waters of Lake Tahoe and surrounding Sierra Nevada mountains. The view from the lake is probably the most spectacular. The M.S. Dixie II, a Mississippi-style paddle wheeler offers a unique opportunity to view the light show from the water. Other ideal vantage points include: Nevada Beach, Edgewood-Tahoe and Lakeview Commons/El Dorado Beach.

Wild West Air Fest

Steamboat Wild West Air Fest 2016

September 3–4, 2016
From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the Steamboat Airport will be overrun by aerial entertainment. A family-friendly event, the 12th Annual Wild West Air Fest & Labor Day Celebration features aerobatics, static aircraft displays, exhibits, vendors, great food and kids’ activities. $10 for adults per day (or $15 for the weekend), $5 for youth ages six to 12 for the weekend and free for children ages five and under.

Miner’s Day Parade and Celebration

The Park City Rotary Club will host its 119th annual Miner’s Day Event celebrating the town’s mining heritage. Last year over 17,000 people came out to take part in an incredible mix of activities, including a 5K run, a parade along historic Main Street, early mining machinery and technique demonstrations, a huge barbecue, games for kids and live music
